2f Water Venture is the distributor of ASTERRA technology for the Italian market (and other European countries).
By applying the SAR technology used to search for water on other planets, ASTERRA analyses images captured by a satellite orbiting the earth at a distance of 637 km, or from an aircraft, to pre-locate water leaks.

Pipe monitoring and assessment of deficiencies
MasterPlan is a new product with which ASTERRA technology detects deficiencies in water systems to support water utilities in setting their action priorities.
For this application, the algorithm used has been trained on 5 years of previously discovered system leaks and assesses pipe deficiencies using multiple SAR images instead of only one.
This solution implements leak detection helping water utilities to optimise their action planning and management of their pipe systems.
Images are acquired thanks to radar technology used to scan the area of interest defined by the customer.
ASTERRA acquires raw images and prepares them for algorithmic analysis. To do this, it uses filters and removes any disturbance caused by buildings, vegetation and water systems in general.
ASTERRA uses advanced algorithmic analysis to “locate and highlight” the presence of drinking water on the ground near underground water network pipes.
Suspected leaks are highlighted in different colours according to their severity and reported on GIS media and monographic files.
